Violentum Garage Door- AWARDED the BLUE

Bullistic Barriers participated in the 2023 SIA New Product and Solutions Competition this past March, and WON Best in Anti-Terrorism/ Force Protection/ Armed Aggressor Category with their brand new product line; the Violentum Garage Door.

The Violentum Garage Door product line idea started when we first entered the ballistic resistant arena. We continuously would get requests for bullet resistant garage doors; but at the time we did not have the product fully created due to a number  of hurdles. In the industry, ballistic garage doors are HEAVY and require custom hinges, 3 phase motors, and special structures to handle all the weight. We continuously did research for a lightweight solution for our bullet resistant garage doors. And, after much trial and error, we were able to successfully accomplish a lightweight solution!

Reaching Further

As we started “realizing” our success with the ballistic protection element, other questions started to take route from security experts: Is it explosion resistant? Forced Entry Resistant? Crash Resistant? And off these questions and a few adjustments to our design, we were able to cover all 4 of these threats! Note: Even now, just coming out of the show, we have eyes on putting our doors through formal wind testing against violent winds or hurricanes to satisfy another need in the market; a test we are confident in passing.

Ballistic: This bullet resistant garage door has been tested to UL-752 to Level 3 and level 8 standards. We are also working on testing to URL-752 level 10 for .50 Cal FMJ!

Explosion: Our explosion resistant garage door testing was done with military grade C4. We did numerous tests with ratings up to 35 PSI, but are labeling it as 20PSI rating.

Forced Entry: We did in-house forced entry testing on our Violentum III, Level 3 Garage door; the lightest of our garage door line. The team that did the test was a crew of professional garage door installers; a group that knows the weak points of garage doors. It took them 17 minutes to breach the garage door! After the test they stated they had zero interest in trying to breach any of the other garage doors; they were confident that they would not be able to get through in 60 minutes!

Crash Resistant: Crash resistant garage door testing was done with a 3100-pound truck, and a 1600-pound payload, going 23 and mph into a crash resistant garage door (Violentum IV Level 3) that weighs 350 pounds, with a P1 result. This means the truck penetrated less than 1 meter into the crash resistant garage door!

Winning the BLUE

The judges awarded us the blue ribbon award in the Anti-Terrorism/ Force Protection/ Armed Aggressor Category.  We are excited for both the honor of the recognition, and also excited that our products are being recognized as valuable to the security industry. Due to the low cost, when compared to other bullet resistant garage doors, we expect our Violentum garage door to provide better security for millions of people all around the world.
